Ladies and Gentlemen!

On March, 15, 2016 under the patronage of Oleg Vyshniakov, the Honorary Consul of the State of Israel, Day of Jewish Culture will be held.

I invite Kyiv citizens and guests of the capital to become familiar with traditions of modern Israel!

The program includes meeting with Alla Gerber, president of the Holocaust Foundation, the exhibition of Albert Feldman and an art performance “Children are for peace in the world”. I would like to say a few words about people you will see there.

Alla Gerber is a legendary figure: President of the Holocaust Foundation, writer, film critic, journalist with 50 years of experience, the winner of the Federation of Jewish Communities Award and Person of the Year, a member of the Writers' Union and the Union of Journalists and filmmakers, one of the leaders of the anti-fascist movement.

Alla Gerber was born in Moscow in 1932. She experienced the effects of the Soviet totalitarian machine: her father was arrested, censorship has not just once forbidden her to speak, and she with first-hand experienced the concept of “the fifth line”. Since 1992, Ms. Gerber has been taking an active part in the activities of the Holocaust Foundation.

What is better – censorship or permissiveness, what freedom of press is and the essence of profession of a journalist – Alla Gerber will try to answer these questions from the height of her own experience. During the meeting you will have an opportunity to get familiar with her book “Then and now”.

Albert Feldman is a Ukrainian psychologist, doctor, artist and writer. At the beginning of hostilities in Donbass, he founded a rehabilitation center of isotherapy for ATO soldiers, which has been helping them to restore their health for already two years. At the meeting, it will be possible to experience the unique art exhibition of Albert Feldman, “Jewish images”.

“Children are for peace in the world” project is a message with wishes of peace and goodness from Ukrainian children to children all over the world. During the performance children will create a map of Israel with the help of paper doves. Diplomats and politicians, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, representatives of Jewish organizations and funds, journalists of the leading mass media of Ukraine and Israel are invited to visit the event.

Day of Jewish Culture will take place on May, 15 from 15.00 to 18.00 at the address: Str. 1a Uritskogo, Oasis restaurant (Ultramarine shopping center, third floor).
